Our Story
The meaning of MUCHIN
Muchin (noun) \ˈmuːtʃɪn\ [feminine]
Ethymology: Derived from the Chinese word 'muqin' (母亲), meaning mother.
Definition: A term used to honor and celebrate Mother Nature, Mother Earth, and all life in balance and harmony on Earth, embodying the concept of unconditional love.
Why are we doing this?
Today, we live in a world of paradoxes: we have never been so “rich”, but never felt more poorly. We are drowning in information, yet are starving for wisdom. We have never been so connected, yet never felt so lonely. We rely on technology to guide us, but we have lost our inner compass.
Longevity has increased, but we never had so many chronic diseases, as we rely more on pills and quick fixes than on addressing the root cause. But where it really all comes down to… is that we have lost the connection – with ourselves. With each other as a community. And with Mother Nature, our source.
Mother Nature’s timeless wisdom and nurturing guidance
Mother Nature is incredibly ingenious and wise and natural forces always work towards restoring a healthy balance. As human beings, we are part of nature. To not merely survive but truly thrive again in our modern lives, it is essential to reconnect with our roots and the universal wisdom and power of Mother Nature. Reconnecting with ourselves and our surroundings is the essence of a healthy life.
Who are we?
We are three mums - and also three daughters of Mother Nature – who truly care and who share one same dream: to help rebalance the world by bringing back the connection with (our inner) nature. When people truly re-connect with the power of nature they will regain balance, they will thrive and fully unlock their inner gold.
Meet our three founding mothers
Chief Physician, PhD Shaomin Xue
Chief Physician of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Shaomin Xue, has practiced Chinese Medicine since 1986 after she earned a master's degree in General Chinese Medicine from TCM University. In 1991, she also earned a master's degree specializing in Acupuncture after 3 years of study at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. There, she had the opportunity to follow some of the most famous TCM experts in China. Through years of research, study, and practical work, her approach is not only holistic, looking at both body and mind, but also connects completely with universal nature.
She handles quite difficult cases because often, her practice is the last hope for patients. She has healed many people from all over Belgium and much further away.
After almost 40 years of TCM practice experience and almost 30 years of teaching TCM, in addition to publishing some articles and books, Dr. Xue would like to bring her extensive experience and expertise to society through MuChin. Shaomin is also a proud mother of Toon and Tim.

Master in Epidemiology
Dr Anneleen Six
Dr Anneleen Six, graduated as a doctor at the KUL, always had a fascination for why her patients became sick and the neurological aspects of the body. Therefore she decided, full of curiosity and with an open mind, to further study Traditional Chinese Medicine on top of her Western Medicine. She now has a beautiful practice in Hasselt and remains a coordinating doctor on the side. She has the unique skill to ‘speak’ both language health systems and makes the bridge for all her patients. Anneleen is also the proud mum of Andreas, Marcus and Julia. She is the Earth element, always safeguarding a healthy, nourishing, caring environment.
Anouk Lagae
Anouk Lagae dreamt of becoming an inventor or a doctor. She decided to study management engineering and eventually became a successful CEO. On her international innovation path with corporates like Unilever and Coca-Cola, in London and Australia, she discovered the fascinating world of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The light bulb literally went on, given her passion for health & wellbeing, people’s energy and ‘great places to work’, all key ingredients to make any company thrive. Her passion got out of hand and she decided to study basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine at ICZO in Antwerp and graduated as a phytotherapist. And now is the time to give back and bring all that she has learnt as a force for good to this world. She may not find the cure for cancer, but if she can contribute to prevent anyone from becoming sick, through healthy lifestyle medicine, this may be the ultimate sustainable solution. Anouk is also the proud mum of Juleen, Jasper and Alice. She is the Fire element, highly passionate and leads from the heart, touching as many people’s lives as possible.
